Sidechaining Techniques
I found this AMAZING tutorial that really helped me and taught me a couple things.
Tell me what crazy things you do by side chain compressing!

Re: Sidechaining Techniques
This tutorial from ableton kinda fills in some gaps, explains a little about the parameters on the compressor
Re: Sidechaining Techniques
If you want to create real intense trance or house music, sidechain just about everything! Don't only sidechain bass drum and bassline, but do some sidechain compressing for mixing purposes as well as creative. For example sidechain your lead to the snare so your lead doesn't eat it up. Sidechain the bassline to another less frequent bass hit to give that space as well. Sidechain your sweeping effects to your hi-hats to prevent them from drowning. The key is moderation, only do it ever so slightly to avoid nasty surprises.
